Research Opportunities
You First at VCU invites applications for funding to support scholarly activity focused on (a) first-generation student success and (b) improving Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) first-generation and/or low-income college student’s success. Projects may address diversity; underrepresented perspectives; student success barriers (social, academic, health related, and financial); new approaches and innovations to enhancing student success; faculty engagement in activities related to success of first-generation students; and teaching/learning approaches.
First-generation Emerging Scholars Undergraduate Fellowships
You First at VCU will fund undergraduate research fellowship awards for research projects mentored by VCU faculty focused on diversity, underrepresented perspectives, student success barriers (social, academic, and financial), new approaches and innovations to enhancing student success, faculty engagement, and teaching/learning approaches. See VCU Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship Summer Fellowship programs for additional information.
This research symposium held each spring highlights the research conducted by VCU scholars on first-generation and AAPI student success. The symposium provides a forum for sharing research expertise and integrating research conducted at VCU into the larger body of knowledge on first-generation and AAPI student success.
