Summer Faculty Institute for First-Gen Student Success

The primary goal of the Summer Faculty and Staff Institute for First-Generation Student Success is to provide an engaging and dynamic program that will motivate faculty to (1) increase their awareness of the unique challenges and issues that first-generation students experience; (2) deepen their understanding of experiences of these students and the unique strengths that they bring to these situations; (3) build skills to advocate and support an inclusive VCU experience for all students; (4) consider possible research project collaborations; and (5) to build community among faculty and staff across the university's schools, centers and departments.

The focus of this year's institute is on utilizing institutional data to make data-informed decisions, with Post-Secondary Data Partnership and VCU Data Digest training included.
